Dr. Shalena Heard
Dr. Shalena Heard is a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland and certified as a National Health Service Psychologist and Approved Clinical Supervisor. She is a native of Philadelphia, PA and a proud first generation college student. Dr. Heard has extensive experience providing therapy and psychological assessment services to children, adolescents, and adults within inpatient, residential, outpatient, and school settings. She also provides supervision to graduate trainees and mental health professionals. In addition to her therapy and assessment practice, Dr. Heard has been an affiliate faculty member at Loyola University in Maryland and Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. Dr. Heard is also a proud Historically Black College and University (HBCU) graduate in that she attained her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Spelman College and her master’s in counseling psychology degree from Howard University. She later received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Lehigh University. Dr. Heard is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and Maryland Psychological Association (MPA).
Beyond her professional experience, Dr. Heard is passionate about social justice advocacy and serving her community. She has spoken at her high school alma mater's career day for several years, and formally and informally mentors undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Heard also currently serves on the Board of Directors for Youth Professional Development, Inc. (YPD), a 501C(3) non-profit organization that provides intervention and prevention services for teenagers in Prince George's County, Maryland.
